We just finished moving out of our old house well at least more or less and apart from making sure to take all of your things back home you have to make sure that everything is up to a clean standard so you can get your deposit back. Different landlords and agencies will have different standards when it comes to having things clean. We had years in which they insisted that the wall needed repainting because of two tiny blue tag marks but that is a different story all together.
Cleaning products excluding your every day bleach can sometimes be expensive and you don’t want to get them just at the end of the year and use hardly any of it. So we looked up some unconventional cleaning ideas that might even help you clear some things out of your cupboard.
Everybody knows the basics like soda water for red wine stains (or most other carpet stains really) but did you also know that you can use a lemon to essentially the same effect? not only did it clean curry stains but also freshened up the fabric ! I ave no idea whether it works on red wine as I didn’t want to purposefully stain something to test it.
For stainless steel baking powder is really useful to make it shine though I see how you wouldn’t really have this in the house unless you bake every now and again. Vodka will work just as well though you might want to save that for after the cleaning to celebrate 🙂
Something you will most likely have though is vinegar, which can be used to great effect on wooden furniture such as tables and chairs as well as general stains and limescale when used in a vinegar water solution. The only disadvantage with this is the smell…. seriously too much and it will be very very unpleasant.
Finally you can use coke to clean toilets and bathroom sinks which I thought was very strange… we didn’t try that seemed a waste and I am not sure this really works although I have heard it before.
Anyway go have a look at all these strange things people found out to make a difference in cleaning though to be quite honest there is hardly anything you won’t get cleaned with some basic all purpose cleaner and a good scrubber.
